Arjun Ram Meghwal is an ex-civil servant, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politician, and Lok Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) from Bikaner, Rajasthan. Meghwal is an MA in Political Science and has done his LLB from Sri Dungar College, Bikaner. He completed his MBA from the University of Philippines and subsequently joined the Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS). In 1999, Meghwal was promoted as an IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre and worked for nearly a decade in various government departments. He took voluntary retirement from the IAS and joined politics in 2009, contesting the Lok Sabha elections from the Bikaner constituency on a BJP ticket. He was elected consecutively in the 2009, 2014, and 2019 General Elections and has served as a Union Minister in the Narendra Modi government since 2016. Meghwal was known for cycling to the Parliament instead of riding a car, until 2016, when he had to alter this habit of his due to security concerns. As of 2021, Meghwal is the Minister of State (MoS) for Parliamentary Affairs and Culture in the Government of India.
